Magazine Cover Draft 4

This is the next step of my cover. I added a main image that I took of a band live on stage, and I put more colour and font onto the page. I also made a better masthead and moved the subsidary image to suit the main image better

Magazine Cover Draft 3

Once i started to finalise my ideas for my cover, I started to add subsidary images and made a poster to go with the banner at the bottom of my page

Magazine Cover Draft

This is the second draft of my cover. After reviewing ideas and layouts, I changed positions and added some colour and fonts to start to build the product

Magazine Cover Draft 1

Music Fan Profile For 'Tikit'!!

Music Fan Profile
The Gig - Goer!
  • What are they wearing?? :  A band t shirt! Either of a local or international band which they have seen live. Jeans, either really baggy or really skinny (stylish people these are!) Branded shoes e.g. Converse, DC. Crazy hair, maybe even a hat! Crazy cool make up to match their personality!
  •  Where will you find them??: Most Friday and Saturday nights they will be standing around or leaning on the bar at the gig of their favourite local band. Usually drinking Jagerbombs with people they met at the gig, having the time of their life
  • What are they like??: They look unaproachable on the outside but they are hilarious on the inside! They are rebels with tattoos and piercings and they make friends really easily with people they meet at gigs. Really fun to be around and passionate about music!
  • They listen to...: Rock and Metal music. Bands such as Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine. EP's and demo's of local bands. New rock/metal artist releases and covers of classics. Usually in a band of their own, or are friends with people in bands they see. The less musically talented like to be 'techies' for the best local bands to extend their music knowledge and commitment!

MY TARGET AUDIENCE!

Market Research Questionnaire Analysis

For my market research questionnaire, I asked 10 people from years 7 to 13 their preferences on a school magazine.
Through this questionnaire, I found that the most popular types of magazines already found on the market include fashion, gossip, music, games and sports.
The most popular masthead that was chosen by the participants was ‘’7/13’’ with 3 votes which represents the years active in King Henry school. Close behind was the masthead ‘’What You Need to Know’’ with 2 votes, which shows the magazine is informative.
I asked participants to choose their favourite slogan from a possible list of 5. Participants chose the slogan ‘’What You Need, When You Need It!’’ as the best slogan with 5 votes, closely followed by ‘’The Voice of Henry VIII!’’ with 3 votes.
All of the participants said that they would happily pay between 50p and £1 for a King Henry school magazine.
I also discovered from the questionnaire which topics KHS would like to hear about in their school magazine. The most popular topics include: News from all years of the school, Food in the canteen, School clubs and activities, School trips, and Building work on the school.
According to the results of my questionnaire, the colours most associated with KHS are Navy, Black and Gold. This shows how the colours of the uniform influence the students’ view on the school.
The last question on my questionnaire was asking students what image they would like to see on the cover of a school magazine. The results show people would like to see a successful school band or sports team on the cover of the magazine. The second most popular result was the image of an individual teacher on the cover
I think my results have helped me to create my magazine cover much more efficiently.

Magazine Front Cover Analysis - Kerrang! Magazine

  • The name of the magazine is Kerrang! Magazine. I associate the name Kerrang! with a magazine, a TV channel, a radio station and an annual awards ceremony
  • The masthead for this magazine shows what bands are featured in the magazine that week
  • The colour scheme of the masthead flows with the colours on the rest of the cover, keeping the colours red, grey, white and black (colours associated with the Kerrang! name) running through the entire page
  • The masthead is a good size because it doesn't distract you from the main image
  • The main image on this cover is of the lead singer (Christina Scabbia) of the main featured band that week (Lacuna Coil)
  • The image takes up the entire page
  • The main image represents the main story in the magazine, as it shows the person as a powerful character which is relevant to the story (True Confessions Of A Metal Goddess)
  • There are two subsidiary images on the cover. They are sized well, by being big enough to show the meaning of the pictures but small enough to show they are not main stories. They are positioned well on the page, as they are working around the main image being sure not to obstruct it, but they take good placement on the left side of the page
  • The subsidiary images represent the stories they are covering
  • There are strap lines used on the cover to give the reader a brief insight into the contents of the magazine
  • The strap lines appeal to the target audience, by keeping a vibrant and consistent colour scheme
  • The language is entertaining and informal. For Example, ''The A-Z Of Green Day''
  •  The spelling and punctuation is accurate throughout the cover
  • There are several different fonts on the cover, keeping the reader interested and attracted to the magazine
  • The font is clear and appropriate to the magazine, keeping a sharp yet clear text throughout
  • The colour scheme is constant and relevant to the magazine
